Simulation and experimental studies of a vibro-impact capsule system driven by an external magnetic field

Abstract This paper studies the electromagnetic field used for driving a vibro-impact capsule prototype small bowel endoscopy. Mathematical models of and system are introduced, analytical solution magnetic force applied on is derived verified by experiment. The impact between inner mass body also compared via numerical simulation experimental testing. By comparing capsule’s progressions under different control parameters (e.g. excitation frequency duty cycle), merits using propulsion revealed. Based results, optimised speed can achieve up to 3.85 mm/s. It therefore that potential feasibility external propelling validated.
